BEIJING-- The high-performance, affordable synthetic intelligence model launched recently by Chinese start-up DeepSeek has produced a wave of attention around the world. DeepSeek-R1 appears to offer efficiency that competitors options from the U.S., but the company says it was established at less than a tenth of the expense of those models.
Chinese technology news portal 36Kr interviewed the company's creator, library.kemu.ac.ke Liang Wenfeng, in July 2024.
